Robert Greene The Daily Laws June 6 · Play Your Role Well

In method acting you train yourself to be able to display the proper emotions on command. You feel sad when your part calls for it by recalling your own experiences that caused such emotions, or if necessary by simply imagining such experiences. The point is that you have control. In real life it is not possible to train ourselves to such a degree, but if you have no control, if you are continually emoting whatever comes to you in the moment, you will subtly signal weakness and an overall lack of self-mastery

.

Learn how to consciously put yourself in the right emotional mood by imagining how and why you should feel the emotion suitable to the occasion or performance you are about to give. Surrender to the feeling for the moment so that the face and body are naturally animated. Sometimes, by actually making yourself smile or frown, you will experience some of the emotions that go with these expressions. Just as important, train yourself to return to a more neutral expression at a natural moment, careful to not go too far with your emoting. Realize the following: the word

personality

comes from the Latin

persona

, which means “mask.” In public, we all wear masks, and this has a positive function. If we displayed exactly who we are and spoke our minds truthfully, we would offend almost everyone and reveal qualities that are best concealed. Having a persona, playing a role well, actually protects us from people looking too closely at us, with all of the insecurities that would churn up.

Daily Law: We are all actors in the theater of life and the better you play your role and wear the proper mask, the more power you will accrue.

Steven Pressfield The Daily Pressfield Day 157

THERE IS NO TRIBE The amateur dreads becoming who she really is because she fears that this new person will be judged by others as “different.” The tribe will declare us “weird” or “queer” or “ crazy.” The tribe will reject us. Here’s the truth: the tribe doesn’t give a shit. There is no tribe. That gang or posse that we imagine is sustaining us is in fact a conglomeration of individuals who are just as fucked up as we are and just as terrified. Each individual is so caught up in his own bullshit that he doesn’t have two seconds to worry about yours or mine, or to reject or diminish us because of it. When we truly understand that the tribe doesn’t give a damn, we’re free. There is no tribe, and there never was. Our lives are entirely up to us. Turning Pro, p. 68 The only tribe whose opinion matters is the one looking back at us in the mirror.

Leo Tolstoy A Calendar of Wisdom June 6

An evil deed not only destroys the soul but often returns to bring evil on the evildoer.

The greatest virtue is to do no evil, even to your enemies.

If you respect yourself, you will not commit evil, even in the slightest way.

—INDIAN WISDOM

When you throw a ball up in the air, it doesn’t stay there but returns to the earth; likewise all your good or bad actions will return to you in another form, according to the desire of your heart, no matter which path you take.

—BUDDHIST WISDOM

An evildoer is happy while the evil is not yet ripe, but when it is ripe and ready, he will understand what evil is, and his evil will return to him like dust thrown against the wind.

Neither in the sky nor in the earth nor in the depth of mountains, nor anywhere in this world is there a place where one can escape the results of sin.

—DHAMMAPADA, a book of BUDDHIST WISDOM

A person who broods on revenge only worsens his wounds.

His injuries would heal if he would refrain.

—FRANCIS BACON

Sinning is as dangerous as irritating a wild beast.

In most cases in this world, evil returns to the evildoer in the worst and rudest form.

III Signals & Dispatches

AI / ML

  • @a16zsource ↗ Mira Murati argues the next step is continuous human AI interaction, with models that keep listening while they think instead of stopping the world for turn based chat.
  • @claudeaisource ↗ Anthropic doubled Claude Cowork limits for a month, a blunt sign that heavier delegated workflows are moving into normal use.

Drug Discovery

  • @FutureAgeAIsource ↗ OpenAI's GPT Rosalind update is being framed as research infrastructure, with stronger med chem, genomics, and quantitative biology reasoning rather than a therapy headline.
  • @EpicPlainsource ↗ Chai Discovery says it signed a licensing deal with Pfizer, another clear sign that big pharma still wants AI platforms tied to real discovery programs.

Biotech

  • @houmanhemmatisource ↗ Rare disease biotechs with strong data are reportedly nearing shutdown because FDA uncertainty is freezing the 20 to 100 million dollar checks they need to survive.
  • @eryney_oksource ↗ A sharp hiring complaint is getting traction: elite biotech talent is still being paid far below what other serious industries offer for comparable ability.

Tech

  • @ycombinatorsource ↗ YC launched Paxel, a local Docker tool that profiles Claude, Codex, and Cursor sessions without sending your code off machine.
  • @Suryanshti777source ↗ Claude Code users are zeroing in on Anthropic's setup plugin because it can recommend hooks, skills, MCP servers, subagents, and automations in one pass.

Japanese Politics

  • @_____zoe_____source ↗ Diet chatter is stuck on process, with one camp arguing lawmakers do not need courtroom grade proof before pressing allegations inside the chamber.
  • @kuniyoshi_shinosource ↗ Another hot point is backlash against an LDP linked free childbirth proposal that critics frame as unfair to insured Japanese taxpayers.

V What Rex Can Do Today
  1. Verify the June 6 Fr. Conor mismatch right after the 08:30 pipeline output and send a corrected manual pack if needed.
  2. Fix the missing default GOG calendar account so tomorrow's Almanac can pull the next 48 hours automatically.
  3. Draft a short note on today's AI and drug discovery signals if Boss wants a sharper follow up later.
VI Toward the Long Game
  1. Read the Programmable Biology keynote notes and pull one concrete idea that could matter for peptide or regeneration work.
  2. Map one real StemRIM style workflow against GPT Rosalind class tooling and note where reasoning could save time today.
  3. Reach out to one biotech or AI operator about where the rare disease funding squeeze is creating openings for disciplined teams.
