Robert Greene The Daily Laws June 27 · Play to People’s Fantasies

The most detested person in the world is the one who always tells the truth, who never romances. . . . I found it far more interesting and profitable to romance than to tell the truth.

Joseph Weil, AKA “The Yellow Kid”

The truth is often avoided because it is ugly and unpleasant. Never appeal to truth and reality unless you are prepared for the anger that comes from disenchantment. To gain power, you must be a source of pleasure for those around you—and pleasure comes from playing to people’s fantasies. Never promise a gradual improvement through hard work; rather, promise the moon, the great and sudden transformation, the pot of gold.

Daily Law: Life is so harsh and distressing that people who can manufacture romance or conjure up fantasy are like oases in the desert: everyone flocks to them. There is great power in tapping into the fantasies of the masses.

Steven Pressfield The Daily Pressfield Day 178

OBSTACLES LEAD TO OTHER, GREATER OBSTACLES Have you watched Aaron Sorkin’s Master Class on screenwriting? (I highly recommend it.) Mr. Sorkin’s central concept is the idea of Intention and Obstacle. The hero has an intention. A series of obstacles impede her or him from achieving this. What she or he does to overcome these obstacles is what produces drama. “Writing Wednesdays,” stevenpressfield.com, 8/17/18 The essence of Act Two is the hero confronting a twisting, turning sequence of obstacles, each one building on the one before and escalating the tension, the stakes, and the jeopardy.

Leo Tolstoy A Calendar of Wisdom June 27

A good life is given only to those who make efforts to achieve it.

In order to have a good life, you should not be afraid of any good deeds.

You should have no less power or strength for small acts than for the biggest and greatest good deed.

In order not to pour out a vessel full of water, you should hold it evenly.

In order to have a razor sharp, you should sharpen it.

The same should happen with your soul if you are looking for real goodness.

—LAO-TZU

If there is something great in you, it will not appear on your first call.

It will not appear and come to you easily, without any work and effort.

—RALPH WALDO EMERSON

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

—MATTHEW 7:7-8

Try to live a good life in accord with the virtues that are set before you.

Perhaps this is a difficult thing, but with time it becomes more and more joyful.

If you need goodness, follow God’s law.

And to follow the law of God is possible only by making an effort.

Not only is this effort rewarded with a happy life, but even the effort itself gives the biggest blessing of life.

AI / ML

  • @minchoisource ↗ Alibaba's Wan Streamer points to real time multimodal agents that can see, hear, and respond on video, a clean signal that voice mode is already old news.
  • @dwarkesh_spsource ↗ Dwarkesh's latest clip frames the next training paradigm around grindability, verifiability, RLVR, dreaming, and ways to push learning back into model weights.
  • @TheGlobalMinimasource ↗ A new generative AI book is getting attention for unusually broad coverage across language modeling, inference optimization, RL, scaling, agents, RAG, memory, and benchmarks.

Drug Discovery

  • @theneurondailysource ↗ Proto is pitched as a way to code biological goals across DNA, RNA, and proteins, while NVIDIA BioNeMo gives AI agents ready life science tools.
  • @ThermalPRsource ↗ BIO2026 conversations around Genesis Molecular AI focused on choosing the right AI partners for R and D, especially where biopharma needs practical collaboration rather than hype.

Biotech

  • @orfonlinesource ↗ ORF argues that dependence on foreign technologies in AI, critical minerals, biotech, and advanced manufacturing is a strategic vulnerability for India.
  • @StammBiosource ↗ Stämm highlighted BIO2026 demand from CDMOs, cell therapy teams, and biologics groups asking concrete questions about continuous bioprocessing bottlenecks.
  • @ernesto_llanosource ↗ A Beam related thread argues that China may be moving faster in some gene editing indications through regulatory and administrative arbitrage rather than better technology.

Tech

  • @PrajwalTomar_source ↗ A pragmatic warning for vibe coders: shipping AI built apps with real users requires legal, security, and operational basics before launch.
  • @michael_bajsource ↗ Zaro is positioning itself as a plain English internal tool builder, aimed at replacing the usual six week build cycle for small business workflows.
  • @fwteamsource ↗ A Chinese market note says partial approval for Anthropic Mythos access could steady AI infrastructure expectations, while geopolitics still weighs on risk appetite.

Japanese Politics

  • @AsianDawn4source ↗ Japan's government is reportedly considering a return to Imperial style military ranks as part of a broader push to revise Article 9 and formalize the Self Defense Forces.
  • @takuyasan_0307source ↗ A thread on the Osaka metropolis plan says the core issue is the mismatch between Ishin's interpretation and the LDP's official explanation, not Osaka LDP noise.
  • @HheWQ2eNTs2itPfsource ↗ A Japanese politics post warns that women only candidate quotas could become an Achilles heel for the LDP with younger voters who dislike perceived unfairness.

V What Rex Can Do Today
  1. Check the Fr. Conor pipeline for any proofed files waiting to move from Dropbox into publishing.
  2. Scan today’s unread work mail for StemRIM items that need a short draft reply or calendar follow up.
  3. Prepare a one page comparison of recent AI drug discovery tooling, with emphasis on peptide and regenerative medicine relevance.
VI Toward the Long Game
  1. Read one recent paper or preprint on diffusion or flow matching for molecular generation, then capture three implementation ideas.
  2. Spend 30 minutes building a tiny RDKit notebook that scores generated peptide like candidates by simple physicochemical filters.
  3. Message one AI or computational biology contact with a concrete question about model evaluation in wet lab constrained discovery.
