Robert Greene The Daily Laws July 10 · Set Off Viral Effects

The moment people know you are after something—a vote, a sale—they become resistant. But disguise your sales pitch as a news event and not only will you bypass their resistance, you can also create a social trend that does the selling for you. To make this work, the event you set up must stand out from all the other events that are covered by the media, yet it cannot stand out too far or it will seem contrived. An event that is picked up by the news has the imprimatur of reality. It is important to give this manufactured event positive associations. Associations that are patriotic, say, or subtly sexual, or spiritual—anything pleasant and seductive—take on a life of their own. Who can resist? People essentially persuade themselves to join the crowd without even realizing that a sale has taken place. The feeling of active participation is vital to seduction. No one wants to feel left out of a growing movement. Announce your message as a trend and it will become one. The goal is to create a kind of viral effect in which more and more people become infected with the desire to have whatever you are offering.

Daily Law: Seem to be in the vanguard of a trend or lifestyle and the public will lap you up for fear of being left behind.

Steven Pressfield The Daily Pressfield Day 191

THE HERO’S JOURNEY LIES DORMANT The template for the hero’s journey lies dormant in our psyches for years and then kicks in with irresistible power precisely at the time it is needed. The Call, as Joseph Campbell termed it, seizes its owner with a passionate urgency to act out, in real life, a journey to what Jung called “individuation,” even though the recipient of the Call is completely oblivious of the journey’s imperative. Writing Seminar, Nashville, 2019 The hero’s journey is the passage to becoming an artist, a mother, a warrior, an entrepreneur, a g rownup. It’s the passage to becoming an individual, to becoming our selves.

Leo Tolstoy A Calendar of Wisdom July 10

In the world today, real faith has in most cases been replaced by public opinion.

People do not believe in God, but they believe in many minor things which are taught by other people.

People’s misfortunes are caused not because they do not know their duties, but because they misunderstand their duties.

God gives a choice to every soul between truth and peace.

—RALPH WALDO EMERSON

Faith is not achieved by a majority of votes.

The major reason for the evil that exists today is the absence of faith in people of our time.

V What Rex Can Do Today
  1. Triage overnight mail and flag only time sensitive items, skipping Substack noise.
  2. Check the Fr. Conor pipeline and Dropbox handoff so Meg only hears what she needs.
  3. Draft a short StemRIM AI hardware note comparing local inference options for peptide IP protection.
VI Toward the Long Game
  1. Read one current paper on AI assisted peptide or molecular design and capture three methods worth testing.
  2. Spend 30 minutes with a practical LLM agents tutorial focused on reproducible scientific workflows.
  3. Identify one biotech AI person on X or LinkedIn worth following and save a concrete reason why.
